Missing 2-year-old with autism found dead in Sharon, report said

Investigation

Ultimately, both children were found, but the two-year-old died late Sunday night. An autopsy is expected to be conducted in Pennsylvania because the boy was taken to Sharon Regional Hospital before he died.

Sharon Police Chief Gerry Smith tells 21 News, "We have to reconstruct those kids entire day yesterday and answer a lot of questions that we have".

"There are so many, so many agencies here I can't name them all", Sharon, Ohio Police Chief Gerald Smith says.

According to a WKBN-TV report, the child was reported missing in Sharon Sunday afternoon.

The toddler and his five-year-old autistic brother wandered away from their Sharon home from what authorities know at this time.

The pair began performing together in their home state of Kentucky and released their debut album, "Tattoos & Scars", in 1999. Gentry died in a helicopter crash in New Jersey on Friday while he was on his way to a venue for a Friday night performance.

The five-year-old was located about three and a half blocks from home by an alert Masury resident.

Police and fire departments from numerous jurisdictions in Pennsylvania and OH searched, and K-9 units were called in, 911 said.

Authorities say a fireman and a civilian found the boy.

The boy's 5-year-old brother and was also reported missing, but he was found safe and sound in Masury. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called to assist with crime scene mapping. The older boy is autistic and not verbal, but the younger boy was not autistic, Smith said.
