Shearer: Aguero Should Try For 30 Goals

The 27-year-old joined City in a move worth around £50m from Tottenham in the summer.

Aguero, who is just one short of equalling City's all-time goalscoring record of 177, has tormented Spurs since arriving in England in 2011, netting nine times against the Londoners.

He said: To play against he is a nightmare. Facing him numerous seasons, he always seemed to score against us.

"It was frustrating. Having him on the same team now is a bonus because he is such a quality player".

"If things aren't going well, he is the kind of player who can produce that bit of magic and put us one goal up or back into the game".

City's 5-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday means they are the first side since Blackburn Rovers in 1958-59 to score five or more goals in three consecutive top-flight matches in the same season, and their 21 league goals is more than they have managed at this stage of any campaign.

Their European challenge continues tonight as they host Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk in their second Group F fixture.

Guardiola said: "The record is going to be broken".

Guardiola, who was speaking at his pre-match press conference, went on to praise Aguero for improving his all-round game.

Guardiola said: "When we play we are not just looking in the finishing part, scoring a goal".

Pep Guardiola's side are really starting to hit their stride, having scored 11 goals in their last two games. "The manager always still wants more from us and that's good - to keep pushing us".

The Argentine's form so far could see him set for 30 goals this season, already averaging 1.19 goals per 90 minutes - a better average than each of the past three seasons in which he scored more than 20 goals. "Everyone knows he is there".

Walker took the time to also discuss his other new teammates, mentioning how great it is to now play alongside the likes of Sergio Aguero and Keving De Bruyne. The Belgian has four years remaining on his contract but the club are keen to sign him to improved terms. "He will die scoring goals; there is no doubt about that".

Aguero caused regular problems for Walker during his Tottenham days and the defender is glad they are now on the same team after moving north for an initial fee of £45million in July. People say "Shakhtar, it's Ukraine" or "Napoli, it's not Milan or Juventus" but that group is tricky.
