Body found near sites of 3 unsolved Tampa slayings

Tampa police investigating a deadly shooting

Police were asking residents of a Tampa neighborhood to stay inside Tuesday morning after a man was found shot to death in the same area where three people were killed last month.

The most recent death is being treated as related to the other three murders, which remain unsolved, police said.

A 911 call reporting shots fired in the area came in around 4:51 a.m., according to WFLA News Channel 8.

Authorities asked residents in the neighborhood to stay in their homes.

The area where Felton's body was found is close to where three other murders occurred in Seminole Heights last month.

Monica Hoffa, 32, was found dead in a vacant lot on October 13 after being shot.

On Oct. 9, victim Benjamin Mitchell, 22, was waiting for a bus on North 15th Street and Frierson Avenue in Tampa.

People living in Seminole Heights have been on edge after the murders of three people.

Investigators have not said what evidence ties the three initial crimes together, or whether they have forensics that show the same weapon was used in all of them.

Police in Tampa released this extended video of a person whom they believe knows something about these shootings.

"We believe he may have seen something or heard something that could assist us in this investigation", Interim Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan said on October 26. Witnesses described seeing a black man in his early 20's, wearing a dark hooded jacket, running from the area where this shooting took place. No further details were immediately released, including whether the person was shot.
