Claim your money from Western Union scam settlement

Officials Compensation process opened for Del. residents effected by Western Union scam

The settlement also apparently called for Western Union to pay $586 million to a fund administered by the U.S. Department of Justice to provide refunds to consumers, as well as paying an amount to the states to cover the costs associated with the investigations that led to the settlements.

The Federal Trade Commission is alerting consumers who lost money to scammers who told them to pay via Western Union's money transfer system between January 1, 2004 and January 19, 2017 that they can now file a claim to get their money back.

Nebraskans who were scammed into sending bogus payments using Western Union's wire transfer service could get reimbursed for some of their losses.

More than 30,000 New Yorkers were affected by such transfer scams, losing a total $35 million, according to a news release.
