Prue Leith felt 'suicidal' after revealing Bake Off victor

Prue Leith has said that she felt suicidal after accidentally revealing the name of this year's Great British Bake Off victor before the final.

In an interview with ITV's This Morning, the 77-year-old baker explained how the gaffe took place.

She went on to explain that when she switched her phone back on, she had received a message reminding her to tweet the victor after 10.30 - and looking at the time thought she should do it straight away, forgetting about the time difference.

Although she swiftly deleted the offending post a few seconds later to try and cover up her mistake, it proved fruitless as it was immediately retweeted and widely shared by eagle-eyed GGBO fans.

Unsurprisingly, Leith didn't discuss her faux pas in the immediate aftermath of the finale due to embarrassment, but she's now opening up about how "awful" and "suicidal" she felt, which was attributed to her confusing travel schedule.

"I think that was one of the worst half an hours, that first half an hour when I realised what I had done", she said. "The thing that upset me the most was that this would take attention off the victor".

If you do not want store credit to the Google Store, a ton of retailers are also offering store credit when you buy the Mini. Google Wifi is another reliable product from the company that sells for $249 during Black Friday 2017 .

"The thing that upset me most was I thought this will take attention off the victor, and Sophie had worked for months and months for this moment and the column inches are going to be about my tweet, not about her triumph", she said.

She said: "What's not to like?" Other famous people said "I could've done that", but I felt stupid. But you have to be a real idiot to do that'.

"The victor for Bake Off has been kept secret for eight years until I came along and screwed it up", Prue concluded.

"It's the most enormous fun".

Prue explained that she was mortified and was anxious how Sophie would react, saying she emailed the victor who reassured her and not to worry. I don't have to learn a script or make-up the links like presenters do.

"It's the dream job". Partly it's because the production company are lovely and the bakers are incredible. "Nobody's trying to humiliate anybody".
