Lake Tahoe weather: Mid-week winter storm watch in forecast

Wednesday should start out mostly sunny, but clouds will build in South Jersey in the late morning and North Jersey in the afternoon. A cold front associated with the low pressure system will push through the region beginning overnight, which will cause some interesting temperature trends. Dry conditions are expected across the entire region on Thursday, then the next chance for rain and snow showers will arrive on Friday. Another quarter and a half an inch of rain is forecast Wednesday night, according the the weather service.

Expect patchy fog in places this morning with some fog lingering into the early afternoon. The mercury will range from the mid-50s to around 60. Temperatures today will reach a high in the upper 30s. Thursday night should be mostly clear and less breezy, with temperatures dropping into the low 30s statewide.

The U.S. Climate Prediction Center says there's a 50 to 60 percent probability of temperatures remaining below normal in New Jersey and several other states from November 20 through November 24.

This system comes after a storm moved through OR and Washington on Monday, with heavy rains, hurricane-force wind gusts and heavy snows in the mountains. There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation, bringing between a tenth of inch and quarter of an inch of precipitation, during the day Wednesday.
