Thai court takes up case against owner of Leicester City

A Thai criminal court on Monday accepted a 14 billion baht ($423 million) lawsuit brought against Thai duty-free giant King Power International, the company that owns English Premier League football club Leicester City.

The case against King Power, which is owned by Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and his family, was accepted by a criminal court in Bangkok on Monday, according to Reuters.

The suit, filed by an anti-graft official, accuses King Power executives of colluding with airport authorities to pay only three percent of the company's annual revenue instead of the contracted 15 percent.

King Power, whose lawyer declined to comment, has previously denied any wrongdoing and filed a number of defamation lawsuits against Charnchai.

Reliance Jio offers upto 100GB free data on Oppo smartphones
The Mukesh Ambani-led firm has also tied up several e-wallets to bring instant cashbacks of up to Rs 300 during recharge. For Oppo F1s, A33F, A37F, A37Fw, A57 and A71 model phone users, Jio is offering 10GB of free 4G data for six recharges.

King Power is a duty-free business that was awarded a monopoly of airports in Thailand by disgraced former Primer Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in 2006.

Srivaddhanaprabha bought Leicester City in 2010 and has overseen promotion from League 1 to the Champions League as well as winning the Premier League in 2016.

The family's empire also includes Belgian football club, Oud-Heverlee Leuven, Accor's Pullman hotels in Thailand and a controlling stake in Asia Aviation Pcl, operator of low-priced carrier Thai AirAsia.

Just last month, the Foxes' owner was said to have splashed £3m on horses alone.
