China and Vietnam issued a joint declaration on Monday as Chinese President Xi Jinping wrapped up his state visit to Vietnam.
Xi also said he had friendly and in-depth exchanges with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong on November 12, and that both agreed to further deepen bilateral cooperation and advance the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Vietnamese Communist Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong during a state visit to Hanoi on Sunday to discuss the countries bilateral relations and maritime issues.
After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a cooperation deal between the two foreign ministries. Xi said China and Laos should push forward the construction of the China-Laos economic corridor and ensure smooth progress in the construction of the China-Laos railway.
Meanwhile, Qiushi newspaper ran an article emphasising that, during their talks, the two countries' leaders agreed to maintain the exchange of high-level delegations, continuously pursue friendship policies, intensify strategic exchanges and political trust, and satisfactorily solve disagreements in order to keep the China-Vietnam relations on the right track.
China will take measures to facilitate Vietnamese farm produce's access to China towards balanced and sustainable trade development, he said, adding that China will also consolidate social organisations via increased friendship exchange between the two peoples as well as enhance press cooperation and carry out projects using China's non-refundable aid.
During his stay in Vietnam, Xi also attended the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Da Nang.
Vientiane is the final leg of Xi's first overseas trip after the 19th CPC National Congress.
He asked for unceasing consolidation of political trust between the two Parties and countries through the maintenance of high-level visits and meetings.
