Armenian Patriarch pleaded Trump against Jerusalem recognition

MAHMUD HAMS

Dr. Tilley points out that President Trump did fulfill a campaign promise by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

While right-wing Israelis have been celebrating the decision, likening it to the 1917 Balfour declaration announcing British support for the establishment of a "national home for the Jewish people", for Palistinians, both Christian and Muslim, "there is despair". "Such unilateral steps contrary to worldwide agreements will not change the legal status of Jerusalem as it is under occupation".

Longtime American critic, Muqtada al-Sadr, echoed that thought, saying those governments should expel Israeli diplomats and temporarily shutter American embassies.

His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia, also rejected President Trump's recent recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

"We are certain that such steps will yield increased hatred, conflict, violence and suffering in Jerusalem and the Holy Land", the leaders said in a letter to Trump, "moving us farther from the goal of unity and deeper toward destructive division".

In their letter, the Church leaders say that they are "following, with concern, the reports about the possibility of changing how the United States understands and deals with the status of Jerusalem". We should have no preconditions, but we have to build trust.

The 13 signatories of the letter included six Catholic officials, as well as representatives of Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, Anglicanism, and Lutheranism.

Citing privacy laws, Westmed issued a statement saying, it "doesn't comment on patient care or pending litigation". Her lawyer said: 'She was in absolute terror during the operation. "She had no clue what was going on until after".

"Egypt condemns the U.S.' decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to move its ambassador to Jerusalem". However, Palestinians claim East Jerusalem for the capital of the Palestinian state.

"The U.S. president's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel threatens the peace process and the stability in the region".

It called upon the world to stand against this decision and called the Arab and Islamic states to take firm stance against this unfair decision. For this reason, they plead that that Jerusalem not to be deprived of peace. However, under Trump's new plan, the US embassy is to be relocated from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In Iraq, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, a close US partner in the fight against the Islamic State, called on Trump to reverse the decision, warning that it could further destabilize the region.

More than 30 Palestinians have been injured in clashes across the West Bank and the Gaza Strip amid protests against Trump's decision.

"Malaysia reaffirms that the issue of Jerusalem is at the core of the Palestinian cause and request that all member states of the United Nations not to recognise any changes in the pre-1967 borders, including in connection with Jerusalem", it said.
