Fugitive Lawyer Back In US After Arrest At Pizza Hut In Honduras

Nabbed at a Pizza Hut fugitive lawyer returns to justice

The Kentucky attorney responsible for the biggest social security scam in USA history appeared in federal court Wednesday. Conn only spoke when asked questions by the U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert E. Wier and offered brief replies.

The images of Conn in handcuffs and surrounded by a team of Federal Bureau of Investigation agents brought a certain relief for Sarah Carver and Jennifer Griffith, the two now-former social security employees who first blew the whistle on Conn's scheme to swindle the government, and ultimately Kentucky and West Virginia families out of $550 million.

Conn has now begun serving the twelve year sentence he was given while still on the run.

Conn is scheduled to go to trial on the escape charges in February of next year.

Eric Christopher Conn, 57, of Pikeville, Kentucky, and his alleged accomplice, Curtis Lee Wyatt, were charged in connection with Conn's escape in a seven-count indictment returned on September 6, 2017, in the Eastern District of Kentucky in Lexington.

"He's obviously sad that he's back here in the sense of having to deal with this stuff that he thought he had put behind him", White said.

Trump's typical order from McDonald's, Lewandowski wrote, consisted of "two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish and a chocolate malt". Sanders was walking off the podium after declaring a wrap on the briefing when she did an about face, returning to podium.

In June, Conn slipped out of his ankle bracelet and left it on the side of Interstate 75 in Fayette County.

Hess was there to greet Conn as the government plane landed at Bluegrass Airport Tuesday night. Conn is also charged with one count of escape and one count of failing to appear.

The Kentucky lawyer who duped the United States Social Security Administration (SSA) out of more than $550mn in disability payments has been arrested in Honduras.

Conn, who started his law practice in a trailer in 1993, had portrayed himself as "Mr". But his empire crumbled when authorities discovered he had been bribing a doctor and judge to approve disability claims based on fake medical evidence.

Among his former clients in the impoverished coalfields of eastern Kentucky and West Virginia are many people with legitimate disabilities. "There have been 1,500 hearings, approximately, and 800 of my clients are going without".
