Real Madrid: Dani Carvajal suspended for Champions League last 16 opener

The old "disguised deliberate yellow card" is a trick which has been used before, but Carvajal didn't do a very good job of hiding it.

However, following an investigation, the UEFA Controls, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) have deemed Carvajal's action to have fallen foul of their disciplinary rules and have imposed an additional ban - meaning he will be absent for Real's next Champions League fixture.

Carvajal's third yellow card in the competition this season meant that he was suspended for Madrid's final Group H game against Borussia Dortmund, which they won 3-2, but UEFA has made a decision to ban the player for a further match.

Big Sean and Metro Boomin's Collab Project 'Double or Nothing' Has Arrived
Oh boy, after announcing they had a joint project together earlier this month, the internet almost broke. Meanwhile, Big Sean received another platinum album with the release of his latest solo LP, I Decided .

It's not the first time that Real have found themselves in trouble for a similar offence.

This is not the first time a Madrid player has had to undergo such a sanction, it would be recalled that Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos also did same against Ajax in a game played at the ArenA in Amsterdam as it was suspected to be masterminded by the then coach José Mourinho.

Dani Carvajal has been handed a retrospective one-game ban in the Champions League for a dodgy infringement against APOEL Nicosia in November.
