Woman, 20, dies one day after being diagnosed with the flu

Alani

Murrieta leaves behind her children, two-year-old AJ and 6-month-old Jr.

Her family is in shock, saying that Murrieta hardly ever got sick.

She was sent home from work to rest on the Sunday. As they tried to transfer Murrieta to the intensive care unit (ICU), her heart just stopped.

Doctors reportedly told the aunt that Murrieta had a flu that turned into pneumonia. She had not gotten the flu shot this year, but Gonzales noted there was no indication that would have made a difference.

On Tuesday, Murrieta woke up in the morning and informed her mother that she was feeling worse and had difficulty breathing, so her family chose to rush her to the hospital.

Gonzalez said Murrieta was successfully resuscitated once, but doctors' second try proved unsuccessful, and the 20-year-old was declared dead at 3:25 p.m. that day. According to Fox10, 20-year-old Alani Murrieta of Phoenix, Arizona checked into the hospital last Tuesday morning and died by afternoon. An x-ray revealed a bad case of pneumonia, Gonzalez told BuzzFeed News, a common bacterial infection of the lungs commonly marked by fluid build-up, according to MayoClinic.

5.8k-kg coke found on ship carrying bananas in Colombia
The drug traffickers had concealed over 5,000 bundles of cocaine within one of six containers in a consignment of bananas. This is the second largest ever seizure of cocaine by Spanish authorities.

Gonzales is still trying to come to terms with the sudden loss of her niece. Staff told family members the young woman had pneumonia, and her health continued to decline.

According to Murrieta's family, she was perfectly healthy and did not have any pre-existing health conditions.

"She was very healthy and never got sick, she worked six days a week and her job was at a warehouse so she was very active at her job", said Stephanie.

Medical experts found that Australia's flu vaccine, which has the same composition as the one used in the US, was only 10 percent effective in preventing the strain of the flu virus that circulated there this year, according to a perspective published in The New England Journal of Medicine.

"I have a son too and it kills me to think the babies won't see their mother", a friend wrote on a GoFundMe page created by Murrieta's cousin to raise funds for her funeral.
