Aaron Goldstein, a candidate for IL attorney general, and four members of his campaign were robbed at gunpoint Thursday while taking promotional photos. The robbery happened at 3:24 p.m.in the 4600 block of North Albany, according to Chicago Police.
The Chicago Tribune reported that Aaron Goldstein, 42, and members of his campaign team were approached by three men in their early 20s. The other two robbers [VIDEO] then relieved the team of their camera equipment and cellphones before running away, according to police reports.
According to the Tribune, law enforcement sources confirmed that they had no one in custody and did not release a description of the suspects.
Nobody was physically harmed in the robbery, that police believe was a crime of opportunity and not a targeted assault. Ironically, Goldstein is a resident of Albany Park and the Democratic committeeman for the area, and was there to do a promotionalphotoshoot for his campaign, aimed at portraying him as a "neighborhood kind of person".
