Civil Rights icon: Trump's profane comments about immigrants were 'despicable'

According to U.S. media reports, citing people with knowledge of the conversation, Trump asked during a conversation about immigration: "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?"

During a meeting with several senators in the Oval Office, President Trump reportedly questioned why the U.S. would accept more immigrants from "s***hole countries".

Shortly after, he tweeted "Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country".

Pascale Marra said the remark goes against a long history - more than 200 years of friendship and cooperation between the USA and Haiti, which share the same democratic values.

President Trump on Saturday argued Democrats are "doing nothing" toward crafting federal legislation that would permanently protect almost 800,000 young illegal immigrants, as the White House and congressional leader grapple over a solution ahead of a deadline next week.

The group's mission in Washington DC expressed its "shock, dismay and outrage" and said the Trump administration misunderstood Africans.

Botswana's government called the president's remark "racist". The United Nations human rights body said the comments, if confirmed, were "racist". Tom Cotton and David Perdue, said they "do not recall the President saying these comments specifically". But there can be no disagreement among Republicans or Democrats that Trumps language and the message it sends to the world cannot stand.

The president later said of his controversial remarks on Twitter that "The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used".

The Portuguese responded by alluding to Conte's hair transplant: "I'm not going to lose my hair to speak about Antonio Conte ". It was Alan Pardew's first league victory since he took over as manager nine matches ago at the start of December.

All African countries at the United Nations unanimously demanded Friday that US President Donald Trump retract and apologize for his reported denunciation of immigration from "shithole" nations.

The comments came during a meeting over immigration reform, a topic that Democrats are trying to tie to the shutdown fight.

In a tweet Friday morning, Trump suggested that he did not use the insulting term. The details of the proposal have not been publicised, but the President said: "The so-called bipartisan DACA deal. was a big step backwards. Do you have to spray paint the "N" word in the oval office or have a hood in the Lincoln bedroom to be a racist?" he asked, claiming Trump will be building this "racist and bigoted point of view" into "the very fabric of policy in this country".

"There is no other word one can use but racist", spokesman Rupert Colville said.

Ghana, located in west Africa, is one of the region's most politically stable countries and has long enjoyed friendly relations with the United States.

Members of his own Republican party have also distanced themselves from Trump's comments.

"If that's not racism, I don't know how you can define it", U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., said.
