Tom Petty Was Yet Another Needless Casualty Of The Opioid Epidemic

The post reads, "Our family sat together this morning with the Medical Examiner - Coroner's office and we were informed of their final analysis that Tom Petty passed away due to an accidental drug overdose as a result of taking a variety of medications".

U.S. singer Tom Petty died from an accidental drug overdose, his family said.

It made note that Petty's most significant health issue was his fractured hip, which he was diagnosed with on the day of his death. Petty's family said today his death past year was due to an accidental drug overdose.

Petty's family said he was prescribed the medications to treat emphysema, knee problems and a fractured hip, which they said had recently progressed to a more serious break.

The Free Fallin' singer, 66, just days after completing a 40th anniversary tour.

"They believe his hip fracture was the reason for his "overuse of medication" as the pain "was simply" unbearable".

Trump Takes Hard Line on Immigration, Says Government Shutdown 'Could Happen'
Lindsey Graham , R-S.C., thought they had a deal before the White House meeting, according to news reports. When pressed about Trump's infamous Twitter habits, Jackson said he couldn't explain that behavior.

"We feel confident that this was, as the coroner found, an unfortunate accident", they added.

The family shared the coroner's report to "spark a further discussion on the opioid crisis". "Many people who overdose begin with a legitimate injury or simply do not understand the potency and deadly nature of these medications", the post continued.

"I think you're going to come off as a cautionary tale rather than a romantic tale", Zanes recalled telling Petty, according to The Washington Post's Geoff Edgers.

Petty, whose ringing guitar riffs, distinctive vocals and well-wrought everyman lyrics graced such hits as "Refugee", "Free FallinĀ“" and "American Girl", was found unconscious at his home in Malibu on October 2 and died at a hospital later that night.

His worldwide record sales topped 80 million and he and The Heartbreakers were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2002, described as "the quintessential American individualists".

Ringo Starr, Brian May and Bob Dylan were among those who paid tribute to Petty following his death, with Dylan, who performed in the Traveling Wilburys with Petty, saying: "It's shocking, crushing news".
