Pep Guardiola sets new Premier League record

Liverpool Manchester City combined XI

He's done it. He's only gone and done it. Pep Guardiola has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for December, thus snaffling the award for the fourth time on the bounce - a new record.

The Manchester City manager is the first to achieve the feat in the Premier League, adding to his September, October and November triumphs with the December award.

City won seven and drew one of the eight domestic matches last month, with only Crystal Palace holding the Blues in the Premier League while a much-changed City side were beaten by Shakhtar.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane won the player's equivalent for December, his two hat-tricks helping the club to four wins and a draw.

Alexis Sanchez given Friday deadline to join Manchester United
Wenger also dismissed speculation that he could leave the club himself this summer if Arsenal have another disappointing season. Sanchez's family have arrived in London as talks of an Arsenal exit grows.

It was a remarkable December for Kane as he also broke Alan Shearer's calendar year record for Premier League goals taking his tally to 39 in 2017.

The England worldwide has won the Premier League Player of the Month award six times in total - a joint record with Steven Gerrard.

Guardiola's City team won six of the seven Premier League games they played during December, extending their record breaking winning run to 18 and opening up an even bigger cushion at the top of the table as a third Premier League title in seven years nears.
