Rep. Schiff blasts Republicans for limiting Russia investigation in US House
Numerous congressional committees along with special counsel Robert Mueller are now investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion between Trump's team and Moscow during the race.
That debate spilled into the open last week, when lawyers for Paul Manafort filed a lawsuit in US federal court directly challenging Mr. Mueller's legal authority to investigate and indict the former Trump campaign manager on pre-2016 money laundering charges.
Trump crossed his arms behind the presidential podium when asked during a joint press conference with his Norwegian counterpart if he is willing to be interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller as part of the Justice Department's Russian Federation probe.
President Donald Trump speaks during a news conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg in the East Room of the White House in Washington, Jan. 10, 2018. No collusion. When I watch you interviewing all the people leaving their committees, I mean, the Democrats are all running for office, trying to say this that - but bottom line, they all say there's no collusion.
The comment marks a departure from what Trump said last June, which is that he would be "100 percent" open to testifying in the Russian Federation investigation.
The President has told friends he's willing to talk with Mueller - the man Trump views as leading a "witch hunt" against him - to make the case there was no wrongdoing, sources told CNN.
Republicans who spent the early months of 2017 working with Democrats on investigations into Russian interference in USA elections have pivoted as the new year begins and midterm elections loom, leaving the conclusions of those congressional probes in doubt.
The comments come amid reports that Trump's legal team is preparing a response to a possible interview request from Mueller's team.
Winter Storm Warning with freezing rain, sleet and snow to come
A powerful cold front is bringing below freezing temperatures as it sweeps through eastern Iowa and western IL . One to two hundredths of freezing rain can be expected in northern Arkansas before a change to sleet occurs.
Trump tried to throw fuel on that disagreement, calling Feinstein "sneaky" in a tweet the next day and saying Republicans should regain control of the investigation. Trump's lawyers have been making a pretense of cooperating with Mueller, but that pretense may have ended Wednesday.
"No. No. No. It has got to include the wall".
Ms Feinstein told reporters that she didn't tell Mr Grassley beforehand, and "I owe him an apology and I will give him an apology as soon as I see him". Russia. What's perhaps surprising is who was asking: Both John Roberts of Fox News and Sarah Westwood of the Washington Examiner raised the issue of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
The White House said in advance of the meetings that Trump and Solberg would discuss regional and global security issues with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, including the coalition aligned against the Islamic State group, along with economic issues and trade.
Trump's critique, along with his decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate accord, has frustrated USA allies on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
And what was Trump asked about? He's also cooperating with the investigation after reaching a plea deal.
Quick fact check: If I or my newspaper say something false about you, an everyday citizen, you do have recourse in the courts (provided you file your claim within the statute of limitations).
