HR McMaster meets with Turkish officials amid growing tensions in Syria

The two discussed the long-term strategic partnership between the United States and Turkey, the White House said in a statement. The U.S. partner force on the ground, the YPG, is the Syrian extension of the PKK, a group the U.S. designates as a terrorist group.

These relations will either be fixed or they will break down completely, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on February 12 in ıstanbul, days before U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's visit to Ankara.

"The reason for that missing trust is the US", Cavusoglu was quoted as saying by the Hurriyet Daily News.

More specifically, speaking at the Justice and Development (AK) Party Youth Congress in the central Aksaray province, Bozdag said: "During Operation Euphrates Shield, we scrutinized for civilians so that they did not get harmed".

The U.S. has backed a force that includes a Syrian-Kurdish militia as its main ally in the war against Islamic State.

Barclays Bank charged by SFO over Qatar loan
Barclays' share price has advanced in today's session, having jumped 1.22 percent to 195.25p as of 09:22 GMT. Barclays says it "does not expect there to be an impact on its ability to serve its customers".

The PKK - listed as a terrorist group by the US, EU, and Turkey - has taken some 40,000 lives in Turkey, including 1,200 since July 2015.

There was no mention of the ongoing war or words between Ankara, which is engaged in a brutal counterterrorism operation in the northern Syrian enclave of Afrin, and USA and coalition commanders who are warning Turkish forces to stay out of American-controlled territory in Manbij and northeastern Syria.

The operation has been conducted jointly with the Free Syrian Army forces.

Afrin has been a major hideout for the PYD/PKK since July 2012, when the Assad regime in Syria left the city to the terror group without a fight.
