Steve Kerr disrespects Suns by letting players coach

So You Think You Can Coach By Brian Witt

Instead of leading timeouts during Golden State's 129-83 blowout win at Phoenix on Monday night, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr chose to let his players handle the huddles during in-game breaks on the sideline. Meanwhile, the Warriors are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record, 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a win of more than 10 points and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win. Golden State put up their highest point total of 2018 and held Phoenix to just 83 points, the second-fewest they've allowed in a game this season. Kerr elected to let his players take over the coaching duties for the night.

"It's the players' team, and they have to take ownership of it", Kerr told reporters afterward. "I think that's one of the first things you have to consider as a coach". As coaches, our job is to nudge them in the right direction, to guide them, but we don't control them. Oddly, the Suns nearly became buyers at the trade deadline, picking up Elfrid Payton at a highly reduced cost, but that infusion of talent at point guard can only go so far and, even with Phoenix's young players displaying encouraging individual signs, the overarching picture is fairly ugly for the Suns at the moment. The line has been set at an enormous 17 points, and as comfortably as they should win, it's tough to back them to do so by more than this amount. Not to cut you off, but you're right, it was disrespectful. "But it's up to us to change that".

Kerr and Triano had a lengthy conversation following the game about the Warriors coach's decision. "It had to do with me reaching my team". "They are exhausted of my voice".

Kerr added he didn't think the tactic was a big deal but that "it's the world we live in so everyone is going to debate it and whether it's a controversy or not it has to become one I guess".

"You can look at it two ways: You can say anybody can coach that team, or you can say it's a [good method]", Booker told ESPN's Chris Haynes.

"Steve is an easy-going coach who has that relationship with his guys", Booker said. "I think it will only improve as well as he understands who can do different things and where to be".

The X4 will also offer adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot warnings, and cross-traffic alerts front and rear. The BMW X4 will receive two new, more powerful engines when the redesigned compact crossover goes on sale in July in the U.S.

"We've done it practice", Stevens said, when asked about the concept of players coaching in games.

Draymond Green (sprained left index finger) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game vs. Portland.

Phoenix is 18-40, tied with Dallas for the worst record in the NBA Western Conference, so Kerr could afford to experiment.

Earlier in February, Yahoo Sports reported that Casspi could be traded due to unsatisfactory performance in three-point shots.

This year, though? The Warriors haven't had that thing to keep them locked in on a nightly basis, to give them something to play for during these dog days of the season. But with games against the Blazers and Thunder coming up on the schedule, don't expect Kerr to make a habit of it.

As Dudley himself pointed out: If you don't like it, stop it.
