The Buccaneers Have Released 2-Time Pro Bowl Running Back Doug Martin

He had an incredible rookie season, two incredibly bad seasons, was named All-Pro in 2015 after rushing for 1,402 yards with a 4.9-yard average, then had 827 yards in his final two Tampa Bay seasons combined.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin was cut by the team on Tuesday.

The decision saves the Bucs about $6.75 million, which is what Martin was set to make in 2018.

In 2017, Martin made just 8 starts as he ran for 406 yards and 3 touchdowns on 138 attempts.

The team selected Martin with the 31st overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Bosie State. Last year, he proceeded to disappoint in Tampa Bay, with Peyton Barber passing him up on the depth chart. While he is a two-time Pro Bowler and an All-Pro in 2015, a lack of consistency has brought an end to his time in Tampa. Offensively, it is mostly about quarterback Jameis Winston throwing the ball deep downfield in head coach Dirk Koetter's Air Coryell offense.

Obama Administration Was To Blame For Allowing Russian Meddling In 2016
In one tweet, Trump went so far as to blame the previous administration for Russian interference in the election . In some cases, they forwarded the material to actual supporters of Trump , and even officials with his campaign.

That only proved to cost the Buccaneers more money, as Martin would ink a five-year deal worth over $35 million before the 2016 National Football League season. Martin rushed for 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie. He played in only 17 games in his next two years for Tampa and suddenly looked like he might be a bust.

Martin could latch on elsewhere, because he's just 29 years old and there's the siren song of those two huge seasons in his past.

An NFL team announced a surprising roster move today.

Between that and the running back's expensive contract, the release seemed inevitable.
