The Buzz | Oxfam's deputy chief executive resigns in Haiti scandal

Mark Goldring remains in his role as Oxfam chief executive

"The British charity has come under sharp criticism for its handling of misconduct allegations against staff members accused of using prostitutes in Haiti following a devastating 2010 quake".

The commission is also looking into claims that Roland van Hauwermeiren - the charity worker at the centre of the sexual misconduct scandal in Haiti - was employed by Oxfam, two years after he left another aid agency because of concerns about his behaviour.

Good Will Hunting actor Driver, 48, said she was "nothing short of horrified by the allegations" but has vowed to continue to work with vulnerable people and work against "social and economic injustice".

There were reports on Wednesday that there had already been complaints about van Hauwermeiren when he worked for the British medical charity Merlin in Liberia.

The commission said its own records did not go back to 2004. "And compels us to take action", she is expected to say.

Britain's secretary for worldwide development, Penny Mordaunt, said Sunday that the way allegations of sexual misconduct were handled by Oxfam was "shocking" and demonstrated an "absolute absence of leadership".

HAITI'S president has condemned the "serious violation of human dignity" by Oxfam following the sex allegations against aid workers in the country.

'I think Neymar will play for Real Madrid,' says Brazil team-mate
A ideal start? Not quite. "I don't know who has more pressure". "I am only thinking about tomorrow's game, not my future". It's come about after Real only managed a second placed finish in the group stage, something of a shock in itself.

"It was not just the processes and procedures of that organisation that were lacking but moral leadership", she added.

The actress has become the first high profile celebrity to publicly withdraw her support for the charity over the Haiti controversy.

A senior Oxfam official stepped down Monday after news reports revealed that the humanitarian group had covered up evidence that some of its aid staff hired prostitutes in Chad and Haiti as the organization was delivering disaster assistance to those countries. Teenagers can volunteer in Oxfam charity shops through the award.

European Union officials in Brussels echoed London's threat, threatening to cut more than $40 million in aid to Oxfam.

The European commission, which also gives as much funding as the United Kingdom government to Oxfam said that "We are ready to review and if needed cease funding any partner who is not living up to the required high ethical standards".

In another blow to the Oxfam brand, prosecutors in Guatemala said that they had detained Juan Alberto Fuentes Knight, the chairman of Oxfam International.
