Australia's Margot Robbie missed out but Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri was the big victor at the British film and television awards, at a ceremony dominated by the Times Up movement.

President of Bafta the Duke of Cambridge was accompanied by the Duchess of Cambridge, who wore green as the red carpet procession came to a close.

"Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" won five statues at Sunday's BAFTA film awards, including best film and best British film.

Who, though, is going to win night's biggest awards?

Backed by more than 190 entertainers, academics and activists, the letter aligns British film stars with the fight against sexual harassment set off by the allegations against US movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

The call to wear black put Kate in a delicate position, because the royal family is careful to avoid political statements.

The issue has crossed the Atlantic, where the Old Vic Theatre has been rocked by allegations against former artistic director Kevin Spacey.

This week Britain's movie academy, industry unions and bodies announced new measures to tackle bullying and harassment, including better procedures for reporting and investigating abuse, a commitment to act against bullies and abusers, and a confidential support line.

Hard 12-car wreck forces Daytona 500 overtime
That limits the air intake into the engine and serves to slow the cars down and essentially levels the playing field. As drivers jostled for position, the first wreck of the Great American Race ended up taking out multiple cars.

It echoes a similar initiative launched in Hollywood last month, and was kick-started with a £1 million (1.13 million euro, $1.4 million) donation from actress and activist Emma Watson.

As the victor of best film, he said: "As we've seen this year, sometimes anger is the only way to get people to listen and to change".

"And as we've seen this year, sometimes anger is the only way to get people to listen and to change, so we're thrilled that Bafta has recognised this". The lovely Joanna Lumley will serve as the host of tonight's proceedings, having earned a BAFTA fellowship a year ago and proving she's still got it into her 70s with a movie adaptation of her famous television series, Absolutely Fabulous.

Among the stars due to attend the London ceremony, typically a blend of gray skies and glamour, are Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong'o, Kristin Scott Thomas and Octavia Spencer. Lumley is likely to include some pointed jibes at sexism amid her jokes.

Best Director is a tight race between awards season favourite Guillermo Del Toro and Christopher Nolan, whose on Dunkirk has earned him an overdue FIRST Oscar nomination and his second Bafta nod.

When it comes to Best Actress the Bafta swing towards British-born stars makes Sally Hawkins a contender, but the momentum is undoubtedly with Frances McDormand, whose performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri is a career highlight.

The veteran actress edged out Robbie, who had been nominated in the same category for her role in I, Tonya.
