Bahamian Donald Thomas earned his place in Birmingham by winning the 2017 IAAF World Indoor Tour.

Birgen won the 1,500m in Glasgow while Kiplangat finished fourth in the 3,000m at the same meeting with a 7:40.12 indoor PB. Others are Dutch Sifan Hassan and Ethiopians Dawit Seyaum and Gudaf Tsegay.

Barshim landed four flawless jumps before failing three times at 2.36m, leaving the window open for the 20-year-old Lysenko. Germany's Mateusz Przybylko claimed a bronze with 2.29m. The event was won by Carolle Zahi of France in 7.11 seconds.

Barshim added: "I'm happy with the medal but not quite the result".

It was the Russian (or ANA - Authorised Neutral Athlete), Lysenko, who maintained his unbeaten start to 2018 by taking gold with success at 2.36m on his third attempt, while Barshim, the 2014 World indoor champion, failed with three attempts at the same height.
