Louisville players voted against NIT participation

Louisville interim head coach David Padgett will coach in the NIT. More

On Monday, Louisville held a news conference prior to practice, with coach David Padgett, senior forward Anas Mahmoud and interim athletic director David Tyra voicing their opinions on the Cards' tourney fate.

But even if that's not the case (and judging from the smoke signals, it sure seems that way), it's hard to blame the Louisville players for wishing for an end to the season they just experienced.

The Louisville men's basketball team is scheduled to host Northern Kentucky in the first round of the NIT tournament on Tuesday night.

Louisville players feel like they were snubbed from the NCAA Tournament after they went 20-13 and beat some quality opponents, and they apparently do not want to compete for the NIT title as a consolation prize.

The Cardinals did not receive a bid to the 2018 NCAA Tournament during the Selection Show on Sunday.

Pogba in doubt for Manchester United's Champions League clash against Sevilla
Sportsmail understands that a large group of players want to head down to the famous horse racing festival on Wednesday. Not many were expecting him to start against Liverpool and he had a good match not just about scoring goals.

The Cards are 32-2 on the season.

The player vote was taken ahead of the ACC Tournament, the Courier Journal's sources said.

The Cardinals lost their Hall of Fame coach, Rick Pitino, to a recruiting scandal before the season began.

Louisville officials made no comment to the CJ early Monday. Sanctions from a recruiting scandal involving strippers being paid for sex acts were handed down last month, and the Cardinals were forced by the NCAA to vacate 123 victories from 2012-2015, including their 2013 national championship.
