Raiders lose out on DT Mo Wilkerson, signs with Packers

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The Packers won the race for Wilkerson's service.

Green Bay hired Wilkerson's former DC Mike Pettine this offseason for the same job, so this pairing makes sense as Pettine knows what a motivated Wilkerson looks like. Now they've made their second big acquisition, agreeing to a deal with defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson, according to Rob Demovsky.

A former first-round pick, Wilkerson agreed to terms with the Packers on Tuesday, a source told ESPN.

Tom Pelissero of says the contract is one year, $5 million with up to $3 million in incentives.

Although the Jets showed good faith by rewarding him with a five-year, $85 million deal in 2016, Wilkerson has disappeared on the field and disappointed off the field ever since. The deal is expected to be for one season, giving Wilkerson the opportunity to test free agency again next year.

Cyclone Linda to batter coast and bring risky surf
The warning comes after the north of Queensland has been devastated by floods which last week was declared a disaster situation. Southeast Queensland beaches could be pounded with four-metre waves in coming days as a tropical low sweeps along the coast.

With Wilkerson now in the fold, the Packers have a formidable defensive line that also includes Mike Daniels and Kenny Clark.

Wilkerson was released from the Jets prior to the beginning of free agency.

They will need to address the cornerback position at some point, but Gutekunst is well aware. Issues came to a head this season, when Wilkerson was inactive in the last three games after showing up late to multiple team meetings.

After a 12-sack season with the Jets in 2015, Wilkerson signed an $86 million extension to stay in NY. The Jets went 10-6, and NY rewarded their defensive tackle with a five-year, $86 million dollar deal. He will also contribute to the pass rush - Wilkerson recorded double-digit sacks in two of his seven seasons with the Jets.
