Wintry conditions set to return by the weekend

BBC Weather Matt Taylor

This week, low pressure will be in control of the weather bringing in heavy rain, marking a miserable week of wet weather.

Liam Dutton, Channel 4 News' weatherman, took to Twitter and said: "Another burst of Siberian air may push westwards over Europe next weekend". However there is a bit of uncertainty about how quickly that cold wind will come in from the east.

"By the weekend temperatures will be struggling to get much above freezing, and there will be a significant windchill".

Some Oldhamers might want to brace themselves for the "Beast from the East part two".

Temperatures will plummet from above-average this week to below-normal by the weekend.

Forecasters say a build up of pressure over Scandinavia will bring a chilly blast of easterly winds to the region this weekend.

BBCBBC Weather Matt excitedly announced warmer temperatures for tomorrow but it isn't to last long

High pressure will build over Scandinavia which will drew in the easterly glow which will become established from Friday through until Monday.

But thankfully the extreme snowfall witnessed last month is not expected to be repeated, with Mr Bowles adding: "It will most likely be a dry cold spell but this has the potential for frost in the mornings".

"There will be temperatures of 4C to 5C during the day, at night time it will be -1 to -2C and -3 in the countryside".

Forecasters are predicting that The Beast From The East will make an unwelcome reappearance this weekend - and there could be snow coming with it.

She said by Friday the rain would be confined to the east and there would be dryer conditions elsewhere.

He said the region might see some snow showers, but that it would not compare to the effects of the Beast from the East.
