Record Store Day at Brixton's Pure Vinyl

Some of the most anticipated releases of Record Store Day 2018 include three limited edition David Bowie pressings: Welcome To The Blackout - Live London "78, "Let's Dance" (single) and Bowie Now". There are often grumbles about the event being too gimmicky, but for many people this is a great chance to reconnect with record stores they love - and pick up some special edition swag.

Saturday marks the 11th year of Record Store Day, the annual global jamboree that celebrates the shops that continue to prop up the recorded music industry, often against some pretty stiff challenges. Today, more than 1400 independent record stores deal in both vintage and current releases. One disclaimer via Record Store Day's organizers: not all stores will carry all releases or participate in all promotions. The album, which was originally released last December, was recorded during the band's final tour with late frontman Chester Bennington before he passed away in July of 2017. Notable limited releases this year include 1999 by Prince with a front cover that hasn't been available on LP since its release in 1983, the 4 x LP recording of Grateful Dead's performance at Fillmore West in San Fransisco on 2/27/1969, and the recording of Rage Against the Machine, Live At The democratic National Convention 2000.
