"It is time for others to take over".

AB de Villiers sent shockwaves across the world when he announced his decision to retire from worldwide with immediate effect.

"Must admit to being a bit shocked by AB de Villiers' decision to quit all global cricket". He said he would still play for the Titans, but there would be no more worldwide cricket or Indian Premier League.

It's not about earning more somewhere else, it's about running out of gas and feeling like it's time to move on. Everything comes to an end.

"I have no plans to play overseas, in fact, I hope I can continue to be available for the Titans in domestic cricket".

David: Tropical storm watch issued for New Orleans, other watches issued
A "subtropical" designation means it has characteristics of tropical storm but now lacks the potential of becoming a hurricane. It is expected to move north into the Gulf of Mexico later today or tomorrow and gradually transition into a tropical storm.

AB de Villiers always knows how to leave his fans and the cricketing world simply stunned.

One of the greats: AB De Villiers has announced his retirement from cricket. A look at his statistics show just how much the maestro has accomplished in his years and why it makes sense that he feels now is the right time to call it a day.

AB de Villiers of South Africa celebrates scoring a century during day 3 of the 2nd test against Australia on March 11. The sudden change in plans could probably be propagated by his decision to return to Test cricket last summer - where South Africa hosted India and Australia in two high-octane clashes that featured seven Tests. While Kohli smashed a whopping 973 runs including four hundreds, de Villiers scored 687 runs.

He had to give up wicket-keeping because of a bad back and the captaincy because of the mental strain.

Though known more for his accomplishments in limited-over formats, his 278 not out against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi in 2010 was briefly the highest Test score for South Africa. He made 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries. Kallis departed with the South Africans still needing more than 100 runs to win but de Villiers stood his ground and scored an unbeaten 106 off 186 deliveries to take the Proteas to a memorable victory. He could thrill fans - and even the great India batsman Sachin Tendulkar - with his invention.
