Apple Has Bigger Autonomous Car Fleet Than Uber, Tesla, Google

Apple Self Driving Lexus

Many automaker and ride-hailing giants are in the race, however, Tesla which now has 39 self-driving vehicles and Uber which has 29 cars.

San Francisco: With 55 self-driving cars and 83 drivers, Apple now has the second highest number of self-driving cars in the USA state of California where autonomous vehicles are being tested.

Apple's fleet is up from 27 cars in January. Interestingly, Apple has not applied for one of California's new fully driverless autonomous testing permits. Waymo, for instance, has hundreds of autonomous vehicles being tested in Arizona. Apple lags only behind GM Cruise, which has 104 test vehicles on the road. Apple actually has more self-driving cars in testing than self-driving pioneers such as Waymo (51) and Tesla (39), as well as big automotive companies like BMW (12), Toyota (11), and Mercedes Benz (5).

Voting begins Tuesday in LI's 124 public school districts
In Hampton Bays, voters will be asked to cast ballots approving its proposed $52.5 million operating budget for the 2018-19 school year.

Apple Apple now has 55 vehicles and 83 drives under its permit to test autonomous vehicles, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) said in an emailed response to questions. The number of cars is more than companies like Google, Uber, Waymo. Waymo, for example, used to have over 100 self-driving cars in the state before moving part of its fleet to Arizona and MI, where additional testing is now taking place. It does not appear on the May 9 list seen by Business Insider.

Nonetheless, it underlines how seriously Apple is taking this technology. Sources said that Uber along with Waymo used to have a more autonomous vehicle in California, for instance, both have over 100 self-driving cars in the state before moving part of its fleet to Arizona where additional testing is now taking place. "It's probably one of the most hard AI projects actually to work on", Cook said last summer.

So, we know that Apple has cars and safety drivers, what we don't know is what exactly its been doing with them.
