Buffalo Bills retiring Thurman Thomas' No. 34 jersey

Bills retire Thurman Thomas' number The Buffalo Bills announced a huge honor for running back Thurman Thomas Wednesday

The 1991 NFL Most Valuable Player and five-time Pro Bowl selection will have his #34 jersey retired when the Buffalo Bills host the New England Patriots on Monday night football on October 29th.

Though Buffalo is making things official this year, Thomas' No. 34 hasn't been worn by another Bills player since he stopped playing for the team in 1999 (Thomas spent the 2000 season, his last in the National Football League, with the Miami Dolphins).

"To make the announcement on my birthday is really something", said Thomas, who turned 52 Wednesday. "Having my number retired is something special and something I'll remember for the rest of my life". He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007. "This is where I scored touchdowns".

The Buffalo Bills will no longer have a No. 34 on the roster.

Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato release new song 'Fall In Line'
Though Aguilera doesn't explicitly defend his controversial points of view, she doesn't necessarily condemn them either. I think I did choose to, no pun intended, take a chair for so long and do something very commercial for my little ones.

Thomas, 51, was the No. 40 overall pick to Buffalo in the 1988 NFL Draft. I couldn't have done this without the fans. They're part of the reason I played and loved the game so much, because the energy they gave myself and Steve (Tasker) and Jim (Kelly) and everybody else was wonderful.

Thomas becomes just the third player in Bills history to have his jersey retired, joining Bruce Smith (No. 78) and Jim Kelly (No. 12).

The Buffalo Bills are going to retire the jersey of one of their legendary players.
