Pirates blank White Sox

Reynaldo Lopez was not the most hyped prospect after the White Sox picked up in their rebuilding efforts but he has developed into a solid pitcher with a 3.50 ERA after Tuesday’s loss against the Pirates

He has had six games this season where he has gone five-plus innings with two or fewer earned runs allowed without earning a win, most in Major League Baseball this season.

In his last start, May 5 against Minnesota in an 8-4 loss, he allowed all eight runs in 3 1/3 innings, yielding six hits and six costly walks, while striking out two. "Hopefully we caught it early enough to where it won't bother me for the rest of the year or anything", Taillon said. I was trying to figure out which way to go, trying to make that adjustment, and I just never figured that out.

The Pirates (24-17) recorded their major-league-leading seventh shutout Tuesday with a 7-0 win over the White Sox (10-28).

Pittsburgh's Gregory Polanco has an extra-base hit (two home runs and two doubles) in each of his last four games.

After Frazier's homer in the first, Bell had a two-run double and Moran an RBI double to get Pittsburgh off to a fast start against Reynaldo Lopez (0-3). Polanco, who also had two hits, had an RBI double in the sixth.

Marte exited Tuesday's game against the White Sox early with right side discomfort.

Officer, four attackers dead in police station assault
The string of attacks comes as Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country, welcomes the first day of Ramadan. A number of terrorist attacks have occurred in Indonesia in recent days targeting churches and police stations.

White Sox: 2B Yoan Moncada (left hamstring tightness) was activated from the disabled list and went 1 for 4.

Marte doubled and scored in the first inning but was removed from the game before his second at-bat in the third inning. He didn't appear to be hobbled on the basepaths, but he was replaced by Sean Rodriguez in center field between innings. Catcher Francisco Cervelli left the game at the end of the third inning with right forearm discomfort.

In a couple of starts earlier this month, Santiago put up 10 earned over 8.0 innings on 11 hits. Cervelli was replaced by Elias Diaz.

White Sox: LHP Hector Santiago (0-1, 5.60 ERA) will make a spot start on Wednesday in the series finale.

Pirates: Right-hander Jameson Taillon (2-3, 4.08 ERA) is expected to start Wednesday.
