Big Bird is watching, so clean up your act, Sesame Workshop warns, and they're not just being Oscar the Grouch here. In their mind, the folks over at Sesame Workshop believe that because The Happytime Murders trailer "deliberately confuses" consumers into thinking that Sesame Workshop is associated with or has endorsed this R-rated comedy, the "threat of irreparable injury posed to Sesame's mark and brand can not be overstated".

"Sesame Street" isn't all fun and games, if a lawsuit filed Thursday by its parent company, Sesame Workshop, is any indication. ALL STREET.' Defendants do not own, control or have any right to use the SESAME STREET mark.

The creators of "Sesame Street" are suing the production company behind a new Melissa McCarthy comedy which features "ejaculating puppets" that resemble the kiddie show's beloved characters, court papers said.

Sesame Workshop says STX is "distributing a trailer that deliberately confuses consumers into mistakenly believing that Sesame is associated with, has allowed, or has even endorsed or produced the movie and tarnishes Sesame's brand".

"The threat of irreparable injury posed to Sesame's mark and brand can not be overstated".

Solo droid L3-37 and her big Star Wars movie surprise
In preparation or the release of Solo , let's look at 5 Star Wars characters who deserve their own solo films. Maybe fans just aren't interested in seeing the life of a young Han Solo .

A rep for STX tells us, "STX loved the idea of working closely with Brian Henson and the Jim Henson Company to tell the untold story of the active lives of Henson puppets when they're not performing in front of children".

The complaint goes on to allege that "a parade of social media posts, emails and public comments" indicates that the tagline "has confused and appalled viewers because of what they believe to be a serious breach of trust by Sesame by supporting this movie".

The statement continues, "Happytime Murders is the happy result of that collaboration and we're incredibly pleased with the early reaction to the film and how well the trailer has been received by its intended audience".

The murder-mystery film in question is set in a world where humans and puppets co-exist, much like previous The Muppets movies and the show Sesame Street. They also want unspecified damages.

Sesame Workshop is suing STX Productions seeking to have all advertising for the film pulled ASAP.
