Apple's AirPower charging mat reportedly delayed - again - to September

This accessory is taking longer to make due to a series of technical hurdles, slowing the company's wireless strategy and highlighting supply-chain challenges that have hampered product launches in recent years. Instead of allocating specific space on the pad for each device, Apple instead has been attempting to merge the sensors into one, allowing users to place any of their devices anywhere on the pad. The device will be created to wirelessly charge up to three devices at once; compatible products include the iPhone X, iPhone 8 models, Apple Watch Series 3 devices, and AirPod earbuds once their rumored wireless charging case comes out. Apple engineers are also reportedly busy working on fixing the firmware of the device that runs a stripped down version of iOS required for device pairing. Each of the supported devices already includes a charger, and single-product wireless chargers can generally be had for $30 to $50. The report not just talks about Apple's plans to remove the lightning port from the iPhone X but also suggested why the company is delaying its Airpower wireless charging mat.

Apple has had to address issues regarding overheating and the "complexity of the circuitry" within the mat. The aim now is to put it on sale before or in September, according to one of the people. Apple has always promised a 2018 release for AirPower, but it had been expected much sooner.

When AirPower was first announced alongside iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X, Apple stated that the hardware would make its way into the public domain "sometime" during 2018.

Apple did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment.

Trump’s migrant policy: First blowback, then about-face
Essentially, this means that after the 20-day mark, children may still be separated from their parents. Trump admitted himself that the "sight" of the children being caged was a big reason for his decision.

Engineers at the company have ramped up testing and have been using the wireless charging pads extensively in the office to ensure that it will be ready, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

This seems to be a credible time frame, as Apple also typically announces its new iPhones around that time.

As mentioned by Bloomberg, Apple was planning to remove the lightning port from its flagship iPhone X but somehow the idea did not convert into reality.

The reason it was not feasible at that time was because the wireless charging tech was (and still is) slower than what is offered with wired charging.
