Comey 'broke norms but not biased' - agency watchdog report

Then-President Barack Obama and James Comey in the Rose Garden of the White House

Details are now coming out on the Justice Department inspector general's report faulting former FBI Director James Comey for going beyond his authority in the Hillary Clinton email investigation. He now represents Trump in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe into whether Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 election.

"No. No he won't".

Other information in the report has previously been made public, including anti-Trump texts sent by Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.

The report from the inspector general also criticizes Comey for not keeping his superiors at the Justice Department, including former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, properly informed about his handling of the investigation, said the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the report is not yet public. Republicans argued that these messages showed proof of bias within the agency. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was seen arriving at the White House, where he was expected to brief Trump on its findings.

In an interview with Buck Sexton of The Hill, Sessions said the report could lead to more law enforcement officials being fired.

New York attorney general sues Trump Foundation
Trump Foundation for years. "The foundation was little more than a checkbook for payments to not-for-profits from Mr. Trump or the Trump Organization", Underwood said in a 41-page complaint filed in ny state court in Manhattan.

However, Trump's original justification for axing Comey - failing to follow Justice Department protocols - quickly fell by the wayside when Trump said he did it with the "Russia thing" on this mind. The Inspector General of the Department of Justice, Michael Horowitz, now leads a nationwide team of more than 450 agents, attorneys, auditors and other such employees who all work together to conduct these investigations.

In another tweet, he referred to the investigation as a "pile of garbage".

The inspector general also has opened a separate review into whether the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation followed appropriate procedures in obtaining a secret warrant to conduct surveillance on former Trump campaign aide Carter Page in late 2016 and early 2017. The inspector general wrote in his letter to lawmakers announcing the June 14 date that his office was following the "ordinary processes" for completing reports. His most significant report before this was the 2012 study of the botched Obama-era gun operation known as Fast and Furious.

She did not formally recuse herself from the investigation after criticism arose over the encounter, but rather said she would accept the recommendations of career Justice Department staff and the FBI.

"I think it will help us better fix any problem that we have and reassure the American people that some of the concerns that have been raised are not true".
