England Women follow up mens ODI record with T20I high

Tammy Beaumont's century helped England to a Women's T20I record

Earlier this month, New Zealand made an ODI record 490-4 against Ireland in Dublin, a match in which Bates struck 151 from 94 balls. Five of the top six T20I totals in women's worldwide cricket have come this year.

The campaign is aimed at urging more people to watch, attend and play women's sport - watch former England internationals Isa Guha, Ebony Rainford-Brent and Mark Butcher discuss it below.

Interestingly, where England Women's team has two centurions in T20Is, England men's team has only one - Alex Hales. Thus, the Rainbow Nation lost by a massive margin of 121 runs. The previous highest T20I score for New Zealand Women was 94* also by Bates against Pakistan in the WT20 2014.

They surpassed Australia's total of 209/4 recorded against England during the Tri-Series final held in March this year.

Steve Holland apologises to England players for team-sheet blunder
Defender Kyle Walker said that he expected the England players to be told the confirmed team to face Panama on Saturday. On Sunday's game, he said England had done "due diligence" on Panama and was not expecting an easy game.

Devine smoked 73 from 48 balls, but the history was accomplished by Bates, who became the first White Fern to hit a T20 century as she unleashed, smiting 16 fours and three sixes for an unbeaten 124 off just 66 balls. The run-fests are something that Australia wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy believes are good leading up into November's Women's World T20 in the Caribbean. Bates narrowly missed the highest individual score in this format though, falling short of Meg Lanning's 126 by just two runs. The Brits were all blazing guns with Tammy Beaumont's 116 runs off 52. These are the joint-most boundaries hit by a batsman in a women's T20I.

Beaumont smashed 18 fours and four sixes during her maiden T20I hundred, with her 47-ball ton the second quickest in the women's game, only beaten by Deandra Dottin's 38-ball effort for Windies against South Africa in St Kitts in 2010.

It was the second-fastest T20 global century - only bettered by the West Indies' Deandra Dottin bringing up a hundred in 38 balls eight years ago.

England seamer Anya Shrubsole, winning her 50th T20I cap, then bowled 17 dot balls and went for just eight from her four overs on a day on which 745 runs were scored as South Africa reached 129-6 in reply, thanks chiefly to skipper Dane van Niekerk's 72 off 51 balls, which followed a score of 58 against New Zealand.
