George Lucas had a bad idea for Star Wars sequel trilogy

George Lucas on the set of The Phantom Menace

Disney has gone a different way, and Lucas no longer has creative input on the Star Wars saga in any major way, but apparently, people at Lucasfilms were aware of his ideas and have simply kept a tight lid on them.

In the book companion for James Cameron's Story of Science Fiction - released in conjunction with the director's mini-docuseries on AMC - Lucas revealed his plans for Star Wars sequels that never came to be.

James Cameron's Story of Science Fiction-a six-part series that aired on AMC in late April and May-explored different factions of science fiction and pop culture staples as Cameron interviewed numerous men who created those films.

Star Wars fans will now be thrilled to know that the veil has been partially lifted on Lucas' ideas for the episodes.

"[The next three Star Wars films] were going to get into a microbiotic world", Lucas said. "There's this world of creatures that operate differently than we do".

A better or worse idea than Jar Jar Binks

"Be careful there son - the last time I let a fan put themself in my shoes, they just took off running & sold them on Ebay", Hamill wrote.

For some fans who did not take too well to the director's prequel trilogy (which, for the record, I actually enjoyed, even though they weren't perfect), that is probably a huge sigh of relief, but for many it leaves them wondering just what could've been, especially given the controversies around Rian Johnson's Episode VIII, which many fans did not like. They feed off the Force.

Sounds like he wanted to do an Osmosis Jones-esque adventure in the microscopic universe contained within the larger Star Wars universe. Abrams and and Co. chose to take the story of the Star Wars sequels in a very different direction than Lucas had intended. So in George Lucas' mind, the stories of Star Wars have always been tales relayed to us by these creatures called the Whills. In terms of his storytelling, Lucas regarded individuals as "vehicles for the Whills to travel around in..." We're vessels for them. And the conduit is the midi-chlorians. The midi-chlorians are the ones that communicate with the Whills. The Journal of the Whills was first introduced into the Star Wars canon in the novelization of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which opens with a quotation from the Journal.

Taking advantage of the uptake in traffic on his page, Boyega took the opportunity to let his fans know he's now filming another instalment, which is sure to excite the lot of you. "People weren't nice about how I looked".

"If I'd held onto the company I could have done it, and then it would have been done".
