Here are the cities that will be hosting the 2026 World Cup

FIFA Awards 2026 World Cup to Canada, Mexico, US Joint Bid

Canada will likely host 10 of the tournament's 80 games, with another 10 to be played in Mexico and the remaining 60 held in the United States.

But Morocco, bidding for a fifth time, had closed the gap on "United 2026" to the point that nobody in Moscow wanted to make a public prediction ahead of the vote at the FIFA Congress, where 207 member associations, minus the four bidding nations, cast ballots.

He said that expectations for a second World Cup on African soil had been brought to a momentary halt.

The regional bid proved more appealing this time and the North Americans even collected 11 votes from Africa.

The World Cup is due to feature 48 teams and will take place across three countries for the first time. FIFA's official list for the 2018 World Cup showed nine of the 32 teams chose base camps separate from any of the tournament venues, some of them in cities with fewer than 100,000 residents.

This was the first World Cup vote since 2010, when USA and Switzerland investigators unveiled corruption on an unprecedented scale afterwards.

"Ivory Coast had very good players again in 2010, but they couldn't do much with it because it comes down to more than just talent, and that is where the continent has been lacking". Canadian soccer player Sophie Schmidt played in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup and hopes Edmonton will host some games in 2026.

"The attractive game transcends borders and cultures". Football today is the only victor.

George Lucas had a bad idea for Star Wars sequel trilogy
So in George Lucas' mind, the stories of Star Wars have always been tales relayed to us by these creatures called the Whills . Abrams and and Co. chose to take the story of the Star Wars sequels in a very different direction than Lucas had intended.

Among the 22 other host city finalists are Washington and New York/New Jersey, both of which hosted matches in the 1994 World Cup, the last held in North America. "Congratulations - a great deal of hard work!"

But which cities and stadiums will host games at the tournament is still being determined.

Los Angeles is practically a lock to be a World Cup host city, and while the Inglewood stadium will be newer, the 92,000-seat Rose Bowl is the stadium in consideration.

Russian president Vladimir Putin had earlier made a speech at the congress, during which he praised FIFA's "commitment to the principle of sports without politics".

Despite having no discernible interest in the tournament itself, football fans from the United States and China have flooded into Mother Russia to embrace the festivities.

The FA was among the first to congratulate the US' joint bid with Mexico and Canada.

South Africa, Guinea, Liberia, Benin, Sierra Leone, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Cape Verde, and Zimbabwe were the eleven African countries who paved the way for the joint United States-Canada-Mexico bid to win.
