Mercedes bid to bridge power gap at Canada GP

Hamilton seeks to extend his lead with a record-equalling seventh triumph at Canadian Grand Prix

The delay, which also affects Mercedes customers Williams and Force India, would not affect performance in Montreal, the team said.

With six Canadian Grand Prix wins Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes have routinely flexed their muscles at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve but the Silver Arrows could be a little frail on Sunday with an engine suffering from a power shortage.

The 2018 rules allow only three power units during the entire season. It is yet unclear if Ferrari are also planning an upgrade or if they will wait to introduce it at a later race.

"We can see that we are in a stronger position in both championships than we were 12 months ago, but we know the battle is more fierce with ourselves, Ferrari and Red Bull in contention every weekend".

Even a member of the city Council of Toronto could not resist and took part in the action, writing: "Montreal looks familiar...".

Netflix Is Turning 'Stranger Things' Into A Book Series
Several books related to the series will be published next year, according to Deadline , with two arriving this fall and another two arriving next year.

"We were initially expecting to bring the new power unit for this race, which would have been a small gain compared to the old one", Bottas said.

Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel, of Germany, spins during a turn at the Senna corner during the first practice session at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, Friday, June 9, 2017.

According to the world champions, "quality issues" meant that their power-unit would be used at the subsequent race in France instead.

"In recent years, Mercedes has performed well in Montreal - and it's one of Lewis' most successful circuits, too", Wolff added.

Hamilton's pole success previous year enabled him to equal three-time champion Ayrton Senna's record of 65 pole positions, a feat that saw him presented by the Senna family with a helmet worn by the great Brazilian. "But we're going to give it everything we've got, that's for sure".
