Recently discovered ancient sea creature named after Obama

The Sudden Political Life Of 550-Million-Year-Old Immobile Sea Creature

Another vital person was Jane Fargher, who co-owns the property where Attenborites janeae was found and is immortalized in the name along with Attenborough.

The animals form part of the Ediacaran biota-a unique collection of soft-bodied organisms from the Ediacaran Period that have been preserved as fossils. Therefore, they offered it the honor of being named after Obama.

Fossils of an ancient sea creature were found embedded in sandstorne in Australia, and were named Obamus coronatus after President Obama.

Obamus coronatus, the discovery of which was published on the Australian Journal of Earth Sciences, was a tiny disc-shaped animal that measured about half of an inch long, with raised spiral grooves on the surface.

It was a long time coming, but Obamus coronatus finally got discovered and received a name - and a presidential one at that. This creature is "less than a centimeter across, was adorned with internal grooves and ridges giving it a raisin-like appearance", the researchers say.

"I've been working in this region for 30 years, and I've never seen such a beautifully preserved bed with so many high quality and rare specimens, including Obamus and Attenborites", said paleontologist Mary Droser of the University of California-Riverside, referring to a second newly-discovered creature named after Sir David Attenborough, according to USA Today. About 50 genera have been described, which often have only one species.

Last Reservoir of Universe's Missing Ordinary Matter Found
Next, the researchers pointed the European Space Agency's XMM-Newton satellite in the direction of the elusive baryons. They suspect that it was blown out over billions of years from galaxies and quasars, but how is an open question.

An extremely well-preserved example of the fossil animal Dickinsonia costata.

The Flinders Ranges are the mountain ranges responsible for producing so many high-quality fossils from the Ediacaran Biota so many hundreds of millions of years ago.

The two genera that we identified are a new body plan, unlike anything else that has been described.

Droser also commented on the importance of protecting the Flinders Ranges region, highlighting how these discoveries may help in the effort to obtain World Heritage Site status.

The finding in southern Australia was a significant step in better understanding the ecosystem containing some of Earth's earliest multicellular organisms, Droser said, and will help determine where and how the creatures lived in an era before predators roamed the seas. Other authors include Pete Dzaugis and Scott Evans, both from the University of California - Riverside. The work was performed in collaboration with James Gehling of the South Australian Museum in Adelaide, a co-author on the papers.
