Trump's Chief Economic Adviser Says Justin Trudeau "Stabbed Us in the Back"

GettyPresident Macron has been furiously attacked by Marine Le Pen for his

President Donald Trump upended two days of global economic diplomacy, refusing to sign a joint statement with the United States' allies, threatening to escalate his trade war on the country's neighbours and deriding Canada's Prime Minister as "very dishonest and weak".

The situation only got messier from there, particularly in the leadup to, during and right after the G7 leaders' summit.

Earlier in the day, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that Donald Trump's decision to revoke his endorsement of the Group of Seven communique via a tweet has undercut trust of USA partners and made it even more vital for Europe to stand united.

Canada's Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland added that "Canada does not conduct its diplomacy through ad hominem attacks, we don't think that it's a useful or productive way to do business and perhaps we refrain particulary from ad hominem attacks when it comes to our relationship with our allies".

"The European Union is brutal to the United States".

However, despite Trump's heated rhetoric, the USA ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, has expressed confidence that the trade conflict can be settled, but said it would take some time.

"We commit to modernize the WTO to make it more fair as soon as possible". And, overall, the USA has an $8.4 billion surplus with Canada.

At a press conference with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Macron called Trump's tariffs "unilateral and illegal". Canada and Mexico are also taking action. By the time I finish trade talks, that will change. Big trade barriers against US farmers, and other businesses, will finally be broken. "Massive trade deficits no longer!"

President Trump started his day in Singapore on Monday where he blasted the Canadian Prime Minister and slammed North Atlantic Treaty Organisation just after meeting with the United States allies at the G7 in Quebec.

Donald Trump has taken a fresh swipe at key allies after a war of words broke out following the USA president's decision not to endorse the conclusions of a G7 summit. Mr. Trump said the move would protect domestic producers that were vital to USA security. "Look forward to seeing them tomorrow". They didn't tell you that, did they? "Not fair to our farmers!" And tariffs are going to come way down, because people can not continue to do that.

"The world as we know it, namely the US-led rules-based multilateralism, is now in serious danger of unraveling, as illustrated at the G7 meeting", said Erik Nielsen, chief economist at Unicredit Bank.

President Trump "is not going to let a Canadian Prime Minister push him around - push him, POTUS, President Trump, around - on the eve of this" North Korean Summit, Kudlow announced. "We strive to reduce tariff barriers, non-tariff barriers and subsidies", it said, reflecting the typical language of decades of G7 statements. Trade. They fully understand where I am coming from.

Navarro added that Trudeau's move was "one of the worst political miscalculations of a Canadian leader in modern Canadian history".

Trump roiled the Group of Seven meeting in Canada by first agreeing to a group statement on trade only to withdraw from it while complaining that he had been blindsided by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's criticism of Trump's tariff threats at a summit-ending news conference. "Our Tariffs are in response to his 270% on dairy!"

White House Director of Trade Policy Peter Navarro, center, dodges the press after speaking on Fox News at the White House in Washington, DC, on June 4, 2018. Not just double-crossing President Trump, but other members of the G-7, " Kudlow said.
