Volvo S60 Polestar Engineered Announced With More Power

Polestar Engineered parts for Volvo 60-series models

Recall, Polestar is now a standalone brand so will no longer be building dedicated performance offerings for Volvo like the current S60 and V60 Polestar models. That's an increase of 11kW and 30Nm over the standard 298kW/640Nm T8 Twin Engine setup. "This strategy is firmly grounded in our shared belief in an electric future for the auto industry".

Volvo has launched Polestar Engineered: a performance package created to give a sporty edge to the Swedish brand's lineup, setting the likes of the Audi S4 and BMW 340i M Sport in its sights.

Volvo Cars and Polestar have introduced a new electrified performance upgrade programme called Polestar Engineered, which will first be offered for T8 Twin Engine versions of the Volvo S60.

We'll have to wait until next week to see the all-new South Carolina-built Volvo S60 in its entirety. The 2019 S60 will become the first American-made Volvo. It can be found on the Brembo brake calipers, as well as the seat belts and shock absorbers.

The Brembo mono-block brake callipers are cast in one piece and optimised for rigidity.

Norwegian lawmakers nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize
While a Nobel award would cause consternation among Trump's critics, he also has some high-profile supporters. The peace prize, first awarded in 1901, was endowed by the Swedish inventor of dynamite, Alfred Nobel.

However, judging by the recent release of the S60 T8 Polestar Engineered, it might be more accurate to say that "electrification" is the future of Volvo. The software upgrades improve fuel consumption and emissions-neutral performance, and refines the automatic gear selection.

With Polestar having recently split off into a separate premium brand focusing on electrification, it might seem unusual to see the badge return to a "conventional" Volvo product.

The shocks are borrowed from the Polestar 1 hybrid performance vehicle, meaning they are adjustable.

Henrik Green, senior vice-president of research and development at Volvo, said that the parts have been "fine-tuned to work together, delivering a responsive and exciting driver's car".
