4-year-old with cerebral palsy celebrates after taking first independent steps

2018 Maya traveled from her home in Michigan to St. Louis Missouri to have selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery. Doctors said the surgery would allow her to walk independently

"Yes! ... I even took a big step".

Ann wrote a moving caption to go with the video: "First steps - 4 years, 10 months".

Video of a precious, incredible little girl has gone viral, all because of her awesome courage and determination to walk.

Her family calls her their "Mighty Girl" and we can absolutely see why. The illness left her unable to stand on her own for more than a few seconds and required her to use a walker.

"I'm walking! ... I'm walking!" cheers Maya.

The little girl has cerebral palsy but just received surgery and is now walking without anyone else's help.

Cohen drops Trump attorney label on social media
Cohen said he would "put family and country first" when considering what he should do regarding that criminal investigation. He added, " Michael Cohen deserves to tell his side of the story - subject, of course, to the advice of counsel".

"I'm walking!" Maya Tisdale, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age 2, said after her first steps. I can't even put into words how we are feeling.

In May of this year, Maya's family traveled to St. Louis Children's Hospital in Missouri where Maya had undergone a surgical procedure known as Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy.

According to the family's website, the surgery was meant to "permanently reduce Maya's spasticity, giving her the ability to live with less pain and greater mobility".

This simple moment most of us take for granted is nothing short of a miracle, as doctors believed Maya wouldn't be able to walk for another six months following a major spinal procedure in early May, Daily Mail reported. Her mother said Maya likes to do things on her own.

The now-viral clip shows Maya sitting on a small bench and teetering for her first two steps before plopping back down on the seat. "She's going to continue with physical therapy five days a week, just like we've been doing, and get stronger and practice her skill of walking", she said.
