Amesbury poisoning: Novichok investigation spreads to Swindon as vehicle seized

Amesbury poisoning: Novichok investigation spreads to Swindon as car seized | Daily Star

It is thought she and partner Charlie Rowley, who remains in a critical condition, handled a contaminated container - which police are desperate to find.

Rowley's partner, 44-year-old Dawn Sturgess, died after being exposed to Novichok, a military-grade nerve agent produced in the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

It was unclear if Williamson was referring to the attack on the Skripals or a new attack. "Charlie is still very unwell and will continue to require specialist, round-the-clock care here at Salisbury District Hospital".

Ms Sturgess collapsed at about 10:15am and was taken to hospital in an ambulance and Mr Rowley was taken to hospital later that day.

Her family said her death had been "devastating" for them.

Central to the investigation is John Baker House, the supported-living accommodation where Ms Sturgess lived, Mr Rowley's home and Salisbury's Queen Elizabeth Gardens, which remains cordoned off.

Later, he told MPs in the Commons that Porton Down scientists had been able to recover novichok from the blood of Sturgess and Rowley.

Police suspect they were exposed through a contaminated item left over from the first attack, which Britain blames on Russian Federation.

Real Madrid confident of signing integral Chelsea player in €40M deal
The towering stopper emerged heroic as the Red Devils shocked Brazil by eliminating them from the tournament last week. And Courtois reckons Didier Deschamps' men will present a tougher challenge than the Brazilians.

Police are investigating a possible link to the case of Russians Sergei and Yulia Skripal - who were poisoned with the same substance in nearby Salisbury.

However officials have said there is no evidence Ms Sturgess and Mr Rowley visited any of the sites in Salisbury which were decontaminated after the attack on the Skripals.

CCTV footage showed the pair buying alcohol more than 24 hours before they became seriously unwell.

Chief Medical Officer Dame Sally Davies said people in the Amesbury and Salisbury area should not "pick up any foreign object which could contain liquid or gel, in the interests of their own safety".

"This is particularly important as families are starting to prepare for their children's summer holidays and so I am asking that people are extra vigilant".

The public has been warned that they should not pick up "any odd items such as needles, syringes or unusual containers".

Police are yet to recover that item but Public Health England said the risk to the public is low and warned against picking up "any odd items such as needles, syringes or unusual containers".
