Apple Loses Three Senior Sales Executives in India

3 senior sales executives leave Apple India, as company struggles with sales in the country

Apple is struggling to sell the iPhone in India, the world's third-biggest smartphone market, and has reportedly lost several important sales executives in the country. This includes national sales, distribution head and head of operator business Rahul Puri, head of iPhone sales Jayant Gupta, and national sales head of telecom Manish Sharma.

Apple's biggest smartphone rivals, both globally and in India, are Xiaomi and Samsung - manufacturers which have prospered in India thanks to sales of lower-tier hardware. In addition, the dispatch says that Apple is in the process of restructuring its sales force in the country.

So much for Tim Cook's dream to grow Apple's share in India's smartphone market.

The exits come at a time when Apple is betting heavily on the Indian market to drive growth. While Coulomb has rich experience in carrier-led sales, his team has been slow to cultivate business relationships in the market, the people said.

Caught up in those challenges is Michel Coulomb, who took over as head of Indian operations in December 2017. The company's representatives didn't respond to emailed questions.

Brexit minister reveals why she DID NOT quit over May’s Brexit plan
Customs duties - the bill allows the United Kingdom to create a standalone customs regime separate to that of the EU. I really emphasise with colleagues who have got concerns but I do believe in honours the referendum result.

It's not that consumers in India have no interest in iPhone devices.

While he acknowledged that Apple has an "extremely low" overall market share in India, Cook said the company is "putting a lot of energy" in the country.

The world's most valuable company has stepped up its activity of late, setting up an app accelerator and a mapping development center, while starting from mid-2017 to assemble some of its older models in the country. "It has not put great focus or investments into India because the market is so minuscule", Shah said.

It's not entirely surprising, given that Apple simply can't compete with many Android handset brands on pricing. Sales are comparatively poor in India, and it doesn't help that Apple is dealing with high-level executives calling it quits.
