Plane crashes outside South Africa's Pretoria injuring 20 people at least one critical – officials

About 20 people have been injured in a charter plane crash near South Africa's capital, Pretoria.

South African emergency medical service ER24 posted photographs on its Twitter feed of passengers being rescued from the crash.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, are now on the scene treating and triaging the patients.

"There is smoke all over and paramedics are on the scene".

Unconfirmed reports said one person was critically injured.

"Paramedics are treating the patients and will thereafter transport them to nearby hospital for further treatment‚" Meiring said.

Paramedic Xander Loubser from BestCare Ambulance Service said: "There are critical patients".

The plane was marked Martin's Air Charter, but no information was immediately available about the air company.

He said they were not able to comment on what caused the accident at this stage.
