Destiny's Child singer Williams seeks mental health help

Beyonce's family reach out to Michelle Williams as she seeks help for depression

The singer took to Twitter to share that she is "finally taking her own advice" and "seeking help from healthcare professionals".

In a candid October interview on United States show The Talk, Williams said: "I think at the age of 25, had I had a name to what I was feeling at the time I would've disclosed that "I've been suffering from depression". What do you have to be depressed about?"

She told the hosts that she had been struggling with depression since she was 13 to 15 years old, but it peaked when Destiny's Child, the musical group that launched her career, was at the height of its fame. "I just thought it was growing pains", she said, noting her success in Destiny's Child did not help. "When I disclosed it to our manager [Matthew Knowles] at the time, bless his heart, he was like 'y'all just signed a multi-million dollar deal, you're about to go on tour, what do you have to be depressed about.' So I was like, 'maybe I'm just exhausted, '" Michelle added.

"I was suicidal, I was to that place where it got so dark and heavy", she shared.
