FBI agent Peter Strzok say political bias did not impact investigations

FBI special agent Peter Strzok testified Thursday that an August 2016 text stating “we’ll stop&rdquo Donald Trum

"Let me be clear, unequivocally and under oath: not once in my 26 years of defending my nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took", Peter Strzok, told House lawmakers investigating what Republicans say is evidence of rampant bias at the top levels of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"These were his words, [when] he sat in front of us for eight hours, nine hours and denied there was any bias". He was removed from the Russian Federation investigation after the discovery of anti-Trump text messages exchanged with an FBI lawyer, Lisa Page, with whom he was having an affair.

"Mr. Gowdy, my understanding of why I was kicked off was that based on an understanding of those texts, and the perception that they might create-" Strzok said.

"The only reason we know about it is that these kinds of things were going on on official phones that were discoverable", the congressman added.

Strzok insisted under aggressive questioning that a much-discussed August 2016 text in which he said "we'll stop" a Trump presidency followed Trump's denigration of the family of a dead USA service member.

Goodlatte then tried to let Strzok respond to Gohmert's statements after the Texas Republican's time ended.

Republicans eager for ways to discredit Mueller's investigation have for months held up the texts from Strzok and Page to support allegations of anti-Trump bias within federal law enforcement.

"Credibility of a witness is always an issue", Gohmert retorted over the commotion.

Kerber through to Wimbledon final after easy win over Ostapenko
Williams only returned to the Tour in March, having "almost died" giving birth to her daughter last September. She dropped out of the top 20, failed to make another Slam final and fired her longtime coach.

Several Republicans on the committee, including those who have threatened Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein with contempt or impeachment, praised the indictment of the Russian officials Friday. We " ll stop it".

At one point, Strzok said he didn't appreciate an assertion from Gowdy, who retorted, "I don't give a damn what you appreciate".

Trump himself has launched personal attacks against the two Federal Bureau of Investigation officials, including a Wednesday evening tweet that asked "how can the Rigged Witch Hunt proceed when it was started, influenced and worked on, for an extended period of time" by Strzok. Peter Strzok oversaw the opening of the investigation into Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 election.

"Let me be clear, unequivocally and under oath: not once in my 26 years of defending my nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took", the Federal Bureau of Investigation agent said during the contentious hearing in Congress.

House Democrats accused Republicans of using Strzok to undermine special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's investigation.

The hearing lasted five hours and may resume on Monday.

"It felt like a public lynching", Dana Perino, a Fox News Host and a former White House press secretary under President George W Bush, said of the Republicans' interrogation of Strzok.
