Fernando Torres set to snub A-League for US move

Fernando Torres’ new club appears to be Japanese side Sagan Tosu after his arrival was leaked

It is done. Fernando Torres is a Sagan Tosu player.

"We have had proposals from all continents", Torres told the media on Tuesday.

After announcing he would be leaving Atleti, Torres was linked with a whole host of different clubs, including the likes of Chicago Fire and Sydney FC.

"I have had offers from France, Germany and even one from Spain, but at no point did I ever think about going to another European team".

"Sagan Tosu were one of the first clubs to be interested in me, they have convinced me with the project".

Nadal, Federer ease into Wimbledon quarter-finals
Elsewhere, Milos Raonic beat Mackenzie McDonald in four sets to reach the quarter-finals for the third year in a row. The trio have all won at least two Wimbledon titles but Rusedski believes Federer will come out on top once again.

The move was also announced on Sagan Tosu's official website, with the club saying he would be given the No. 9 shirt, which he has worn for the majority of his career.

With the national team, Torres won two European titles and a World Cup, while he also added two UEFA Europa League titles and a UEFA Champions League at club level.

He said he planned to make his debut for Sagan Tosu on July 22.

Sagan Tosu were promoted to the J1 League in 2012 and have achieved a highest finish of fifth place in their existence. In 2017, they finished eighth in the division but are in a relegation battle halfway through the current campaign. In his penultimate match with the Rojiblancos, Torres made a substitute appearance in the 89th minute as they beat Marseille 3-0 to capture the Europa League.

Torres' former worldwide teammate Andrés Iniesta also moved to Japan this summer, joining Vissel Kobe after bidding farewell to Barcelona after spending 20 years at the Catalan club.
