I didn't criticise Theresa May to The Sun

On Friday, several thousand people marched through central London to Trafalgar Square in protest against Mr. Trump's presence in Britain.

A Scottish Government spokesman said of the visit: 'President Trump is coming to the UK at the invitation of the UK Government and the Secretary of State for Scotland will greet him on arrival.

Anthony Gardner, who was ambassador to the European Union to former president Barack Obama, said Trump's attack was "totally unacceptable" and "unprecedented" in the middle of a high-profile visit.

The Trumps later took off from Windsor in a presidential helicopter on their way to Scotland for a weekend stay at his Turnberry golf resort.

May was the first head of government to officially meet Trump as president, in January 2017.

Trump went as far as to suggest that a "soft" Brexit could endanger any unilateral trade deal reached between the United States and the U.K.

When Khan wisely and calmly said that there was "no reason to be alarmed" by the visibly increased security presence in the streets of London after the London Bridge attacks, Trump spun it as Khan trying to minimise the threat of the attacks - but didn't challenge Theresa May when she said in response to the same attacks that "everybody needs to go about their lives as they normally would".

He said: "I read reports where that won't be possible, but I believe after speaking with the prime minister's people and representatives and trade experts it will absolutely be possible".

Xherdan Shaqiri to wear number 23 shirt at Liverpool
Liverpool have completed the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri , the Merseyside club announced on Friday. A few years ago I wanted to come too but it didn't happen.

Protesters accompanied the "Trump baby" balloon, with signs railing against Trump's policies on topics including immigration, race relations, women and climate change. In denying a query from CNN anchor Jim Acosta, Trump said that "CNN is fake news".

"She's a very smart, very tough, very capable person and I would much rather have her as my friend than my enemy, that I can tell you".

"Just make sure we can trade together, that's all that matters", he said.

At the same location a week ago, May finally won agreement for her Brexit plans from her cabinet after two years of tortuous internal wrangling.

Earlier, Mr Trump said he and Mrs May had spoken for an hour-and-a-half at the black-tie dinner at Blenheim Palace, which he attended with his wife Melania. "As he said in his interview with The Sun she "is a very good person" and he 'never said anything bad about her.' He thought she was great on North Atlantic Treaty Organisation today and is a really terrific person".

US First Lady Melania Trump tries her hand at lawn bowls as Philip May, right, husband of British Prime Minister Theresa May, watches on. She met Chelsea Pensioners and local children.

"Prime Minister as I just said she's going to make a decision as to what she's going to do", he said.

At the Chequers news conference, Mr Trump said he had been responding to the Sun's question about Mr Johnson as a possible prime minister, adding: "He has been very nice to me".
