I’m ready to put tariffs on every import from China, Trump warns

US President Donald Trump Friday said he's willing to hit all Chinese goods imported to the United States with tariffs if necessary.

"I'm ready to go to 500", Trump told CNBC's Joe Kernen, suggesting that every Chinese product would be subject to the duties.

"I'm not doing this for politics, I'm doing this to do the right thing for our country", the president said.

"Equities sank sharply in the wake of Trump saying is he ready to slap tariffs on all the goods the United States imports from China, which total over $500bn". "Donald Trump will be the president until at least January, 2021". It would hurt both countries, but China's "state-run government can do more to artificially prop up its economy" and a cratering US economy would nearly surely hurt Trump's presidency.

That figure references the $505 billion dollars worth of goods imported from China in 2017, according to Census Bureau data.

Holden later told People magazine she told the man: "You don't touch me, motherf--!" "I've never done that before". It's a slightly unorthodox way to go about it, but so far, she has raised over $6,500, so it's definitely working.

Earlier this month, the United States imposed tariffs on US$34 billion of Chinese imports.

After the interview, Trump reiterated criticism of planned interest-rate hikes by the Federal Reserve, saying in a Twitter post that tightening policy would diminish any USA advantage in trade and exacerbate losses from "BAD trade deals".

"China, the European Union and others have been manipulating their currencies and interest rates lower, while the U.S.is raising rates while the dollars gets stronger and stronger with each passing day - taking away our big competitive edge". Tariffs on another $16 billion of electronics and components are scheduled and the Trump administration has threatened to target another $200 billion of Chinese products with tariffs, a move that would raise prices for Americans and hurt China's economy.

Beijing is targeting sectors, like agriculture, that could harm Trump politically at home, though he said in the CNBC interview that he is seeking to do only what is fair.

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow blames Chinese President Xi Jinping for a lack of progress in bilateral trade talks, and has warned that Trump was "not going to let go" of the issue, the Axios news website reported on Friday. China has called the comments distorted and bogus.
